My New Digs

I picked up Minecraft shortly after its initial release in 2009. I have played various amounts in the last 10 years on both PC and Xbox – sometimes strip mining underground caves, sometimes working on an elaborate sprawling mini compound of my own. It wasn’t until the last couple years that I got into texture packs and shaders which have completely changed the way that I play the game. My style used to be that of function, not really aesthetics, sort of like me in real life. Recently some Discord friends have been working on a collective server and I have embarked on challenging myself to create something more exciting than the basic A-frame home full of chests and furnaces.

My sprawling estate consists of a small asymmetric home complete with a tamed ocelot (who morphed into a Siamese), a small pond, a comfy campground up top overlooking a sprawling grassland, a tiny tree house complete with bunk beds for more space for activities, a greenhouse, and a blacksmiths lab with an auto-smelter built into the wall for easy ore refining. I think my next project will be a small garden of crops off to the side of the blacksmithing area.
