Weekend Recap 6/8 – 6/10

This weeks weekend recap is brought to you by the letter P and the number 3. I have never been to a midnight movie showing. Richard, James, his sister (who’s name escapes me currently), and I went to see Prometheus Thursday night/Friday morning. Wait. Let me back up. I had planned on taking a nap prior to going to see Prometheus because I am old and I was at a show late the night prior. LMFAO to be exact, and lets just get this straight, I was there as medical staff. After I downed half a pint of Late Night Snack ice cream by Ben & Jerry’s, I met up with Richard and Jonny for a little bit of geocaching. Sadly our first attempt at a find was a bust, but we snagged two more before Jonny had to leave and pick up his wife from work. This brings my official count up to 537 finds. Next month my friend Dawn and I are planning a 100 finds in a day extravaganza. We all parted ways and reconvened at Jonny’s place for some hang outs and Call of Duty a couple of hours later. After that we finally met up with James and his sister. We arrived at the theater rather early, just in case the line was long, and surprisingly they were already allowing seating in the theater.

I have mixed feelings about seeing movies in the theater. It never fails that I am stuck in front of some rude jackass that likes to put their feet on the back of my seat or kick the back, or the idiot that insists on talking the entire time. But on the flipside, there is something about enjoying a good movie in a theater. I think there was an entire high school class seated in front of us. I honestly don’t recall being so annoying when I was that age, because I probably wasn’t, but there are times where I wished that movies had age separations, like night clubs. The movie was exceptionally good, and the imagery was stunning, I would see it again. The only draw back was crawling into bed at 2:30 AM and having to be at work at 8 AM.

Saturday was spent catching up on much needed sleep. I got a good 12 hours in before Richard and I headed over to Toy Fusion. We saw our friends Jonny and Julie for a brief moment, sadly they couldn’t stay and hang out longer due to Jonny having to go to work – BOO! I picked up an awesome Ron English figure that I have been coveting for a while, and then we decided to go feed the ducks. We hit up the dollar store for some cheap bread and managed to buy a sizable feast of snack foods that ranged the gamut of tasty to horrible – more on that later. We managed to find a whole 4 ducks at the park to feed the loaf of bread we had to – poor guys ate like kings but will probably be stopped up for weeks. We then hit Red Robin for dinner and then hung out at my place where I slaved away on my Minecraft game.

I assure you there are ducks in there – somewhere.

Sunday also got off to a slow start – both Saturday and Sunday I was nursing an excruciating migraine, which made me sadly decline hanging out with my friends Tim and Lauren. Richard came over and we decided to hit up the local auction, Denio’s. I honestly thought I was going to die from how bad my head was pounding. Nothing a little Italian food wont numb. We hit up our local Sunday pizza stop, where I foolishly deviated from my normal slice of pepperoni pizza and ordered spaghetti instead. What a mistake. Note to self – do not order that again – the marinara sauce was way too sweet. We then hit up Toys R Us where I snagged a game of Perfection, and Richard picked up 2 Lego games; Sunblock, which is a strategy game that requires you to place various sized umbrellas on a desert island until a player can no longer fit anymore on there, as well as Magikus, which is also a strategy game that requires each player to complete a potion list, but you can only draw items from the line that the owl is on. They are both pretty mindless, but fun, and being Lego allow for plenty of rule changing and customization. His new goal is to collect all of the Lego games. Maybe we can make a giant awesome game out of all of them. Truly epic. We wrapped up the weekend by hitting our beloved Asylum, where we got to hang out with our good friend Ed and dance the night away.

How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap – 6/1 – 6/3

Okay, so technically Friday is not the weekend, but for the sake of argument we will call the portion after work on Friday, the weekend. So after a drama filled afternoon at work that required me driving back to the office after arriving home just to shut the office door that clicked open and set the alarm off, Richard and I were off to a movie! We (pretty much I) decided to see Snow White and The Huntsman. We arrived just as the 8:50 PM showing started and I hate walking into a movie when the previews start, it stresses me out beyond belief. We purchased tickets for the 9:55 showing and debated on how we were going to spend our time. Parking was an absolute nightmare, so we decided to venture over to the laser tag place next door to kill some time. The video game selection is really sub-par, but we were able to dump enough money into tokens to fill the hour before the movie.

I challenged him to a match of air hockey, where I promptly whooped his ass. I have an extreme soft spot for coin pusher games, and I may or may not have been known to drop mass quantities of money into playing them. They are seriously like crack for me. I managed to stay away – go me! – and we played a couple rounds on a game that allowed you to throw ball pit balls at a tv screen to accumulate points. We cleaned house and won a nice handful of tickets (as pictured above). I picked out a few trinkets and we retreated to the bench outside of the building to watch an amazing episode of Continue? on my phone. We were both recently turned onto Continue? by a friend of ours, and if you are a fan of older video games, boobs, profanity, and all things awesome, I highly suggest that you check out their channel.

Sadly Snow White and The Huntsman fell into the category where they show all of the cool awesome stuff in the TV trailer and the rest of the movie is rather throw away. The effects in the movie were really well done. I also really enjoyed the costuming choices for all of the characters. And somehow I just turned into a girl. AWESOME. Saturday was spent helping my friend Tim and his girlfriend move their apartment. Let’s just say I am still sore. You know how your parents say things like “we had to walk to school uphill both ways…” well that was pretty much moving on Saturday. At least I got to hang out with cool people, eat delicious food, and get lots of cute Xena snuggles (their cat!) Sunday, Richard and I ventured to A-1 comics – he spent a small fortune, and I was good and walked out with just one Adventure Time comic. We also ran into our friend Ed while he was playing in the Pokemon tournament. We decided to go to Toy Fusion but they are closed on Sunday – AHHH NOSE NUGGETS – so we wandered the mall instead. We hit the Lego store and drooled over the new Lord of the Rings series, Monster Fighter series, and the huge R2D2 build. I also may or my not have acquired some of the new Disney Vinylmation figures from the 25th anniversary series – I kind of want them all *swoon* We wrapped up the night by dancing our faces off at Asylum, our Sunday ritual.

Check back tomorrow for a brand new Edible Escapades!

Chargin’ mah laser… pew pew pew

(I was player 16)

Yesterday was my friend James’ birthday. He decided that we would have an awesome pizza party and play laser tag. I can’t even remember the last time I played a game of laser tag, I think I was 8… we won’t talk about how long ago that was. Anywhoo – we met up at Round Table Pizza and partook in their all you can eat buffet dinner special, which happened to be a total coincidence. We took over the special occasion room (even though there was only 10 of us) and managed to scare away the regular patrons on accident (I imagine it was all the talk of video games, dicks, and lumpy space princesses… and the fact that James got a fake sword for turning 28) After we all ate our weight in pizza – and I played a few rounds of pinball – we headed over to Sunsplash to play some laser tag. Sadly they close early during the week, which is totally stupid considering it’s becoming summertime and who doesn’t enjoy a good laser blasting on a Tuesday night. At least they made up for it by having a buy one get one free night. I had never ventured upstairs at Sunsplash, as I thought only fancy pants people could go up there, but it turns out that is where their laser arena is (I made up the arena part, they don’t call it that, but I think it sounds way more exciting).

We were forced to watch an informational video which sent mixed messages about running around in the dark, and whether or not we were allowed to – DONT RUN! but then they show a woman running out of the game… so confusing. Because there were 9 of us, we split into 3 groups of 3. I was on the red team and managed to pick the vest with horrid pit odor and a broken chest strap, luckily I made up for it by kicking some serious ass. We had the luxury of entering the arena first and scouting out the areas before the other two teams. We started out in the back corner, but an air cannon thing kept scaring the hell out of Johnny, Richard, and myself, and we could not contain our laughter, so we decided to pack up and move over to another area. Now is where I get accused of camping. We holed up in a spot that had a bonus target in it that you can shoot every 20 seconds or so for extra points. I figured since Richard was getting all black-ops on this shit and Jonny went rouge that I would offset our point deduction for getting hit by nailing the target every time I ducked back into the base. My plan worked and we came out scores ahead of the other teams. And to my defense I shot a shitload of people – so suck on that whiny babies. Sorry, I’m not bitter. Anyways – I hope it turns into a somewhat regular Tuesday night thing, since I had a ton of fun. I also managed to run into a wall despite being very aware that it was there. I bled a tiny speck of blood, therefore I think I should be able to play for free next time. I’ll be sure to let you all know how that goes. Behold my glowy hair and tron like shoelaces.

After we were tapped out on laser tag, we headed to Denny’s for more birthday shenanigans. It mostly consisted of us ordering desserts and drawing dicks on things. This is literally sounding like the intro to Superbad. All in all, it was extremely fun and I hope we all get to hang out more often.
