Wreck It Ralph

Posted in Inspiration by

Last night, Richard and I caught a late showing of Wreck It Ralph. Being a huge video game nerd, I was beyond excited about trying to pick out all the characters that Disney jammed into this film. Most of this movie had me giddy like a school girl, much like when Scott Pilgrim came out, but the element of sweetness to this film was over the top. Combining my two favorite things?! I’m in. I can’t wait for this movie to come out on DVD and I so badly want to dress as Vanellope von Schweetz for the rest of my life, could she be any cuter?! *sigh* During the movie I found myself dreaming of how I could create some cute hair bows and what not inspired by her candy coated tresses.

In honor of this awesome movie that you MUST see, I present to you 5 of my recent favorite sweet inspired finds on Etsy. Any of my real life friends reading this? Feel free to get me any or all of these things for Christmas 😛

  1. DistinctDesignsUnltd – 10 Sweet Treats Candy Cupcake Cookie 1″ Badges – How delightful are these?! And you get 10 for just $5.00, what a steal.
  2. SewSmittenUK – Love Hearts Sweets Oyster Card Holder – I often leave the house without my purse because I hate carrying that deadweight. I love slim little wallets that I can toss the essentials into and go. I adore the pattern on this card holder.
  3. RubyandSue – Pale Pink Candy Stripe Fabric Bow – This bow is beyond cute. Ruby + Sue have a ton of amazingly cute bows in their shop and it was hard to choose just one. They will even put the bow on a headband instead of a clip if you ask – fancy!
  4. LokiMonster – M & M Candy Hair Pins – These hair pins are perfect for the Vanellope look! I am also dreaming of a headband made of rows of M & M’s. Internet? Make it so!
  5. OrigamiOnigiri – Mouse Lollipop Charm – Perfect for you Mouseketeers out there! It also doesn’t hurt that this is a mixture of my favorite color and my best friends favorite color. This pendant looks lickably good!

1. Waiting for my nails to dry. I am seriously the most impatient person when it comes to this task.

2. Hamming it up before heading out to the Call of Duty : Black Ops II midnight release. I’m wearing a tank top, I promise.

3. An envelope I doodled up before sending off to my best of friends.

4. The dogs at work – Jack making a lovely cameo in this cute picture of Tenny.

5. Tried something new with my nails by adding half of another color ontop instead of doing a standard french tip.

6. A lovely sunset shot from my drive home from work.

7. And another – seriously the sky was making this too easy.

8. Hanging out at work – doing… work things.

9. I hit the mall in an attempt to find some clothing items that I could add to my barebones collection of t-shirts and jeans. This top from H&M was not flattering in the slightest.

10. A little flashback Friday on Instagram. This picture is from Halloween 2007 – the one and only time I have applied make up in my adult life.

11. Another flashback to 2009. Love those braces!

12. Arein is exactly how you spell my name, if it weren’t already spelled Erin.

13. Lunch by myself on Saturday. I often try to find window seats so I can just gaze out, and this was a perfect little spot to watch the rain fall.

14. Butter noodles and a bowl of tomato soup from Noodles & Co.

15. I spotted this leaf on the way back out to my car after lunch. I was going to pass it up, but I immediately turned around after putting my bag in the car to snap a picture of it. It was just too pretty to go unnoticed.

I do apologize for my lack of posting lately. I received some news on Friday that I am not currently at liberty to talk about, and it has got me quite down. Hopefully something good will come of all of it, somehow, but for now – I’m just trying to keep my head up.

Apps I’m in love with…

Posted in Inspiration by

Today I thought I would give you a look a couple of apps that I am currently in love with.

20121115-100343.jpg       20121115-100349.jpg

PicFrame – I think I may have talked about this app before, but it is honestly the best framing app I have used yet for the Iphone. I also enjoy the ability to add text to my photos and the recent introduction of a handful of filters and photo crop shapes. It allows you to choose from various aspect ratios for your photos (including 1X1 for all you Instagrammers out there) and resolution sizes which is great for a blogger such as myself.

Brit + Co. – I found this app on accident while looking for thing similar to Pinterest. I enjoy mixing it up and this app has links to various fashion tips, food ideas, DIY projects, etc.

Apps Gone Free – I am constantly scouring the App Store looking for various new Apps and if some of my coveted ones have gone free yet. This handy app delivers a daily dose of various apps that have gone from a paid to free. It works for both the Iphone and Ipad and you can make suggestions of apps that you would like to see go free and they will ask the developer if they would be willing to offer it for a short period of time for free. It helps to check this app daily as most of the deals expire within 1 to 2 days of posting.

Oflow – Are you looking for a little inspiration in your day? Check out Oflow! This app includes 100 ways to be creative within your life. Some of them are just mental exercises but others would be great blog ideas!

20121115-100407.jpg       20121115-112905.jpg

Timer – As someone who handles quite the workload at work some days, it is imperative that I keep track of where our technicians are and how long they have been there. Timer allows me to view everything at once with a simple and aesthetically pleasing view. It also allows me to set custom tones for each timer and sends push alerts when I have my phone muted which is awesome.

Xbox Smartglass – This app is pretty awesome for those of you who own Xbox 360s. The app connects to your Live profile and allows you interact with the dashboard both away from the console, such as sending messages via phone which I find way more convenient than trying to use the controller to do this, and while playing. For example if you are playing Halo 4 and pick up a new gun and have Smartglass pulled up on your phone, it will show information about that gun. I think this adds a really awesome element to the gaming experience. P.s. add me on Xbox Live!

Call of Duty – Black Ops II Midnight Launch

20121113-112110.jpg

On Tuesday, Richard and I went to the midnight release for Call of Duty – Black Ops II. I feel like this was complete deja vu as I was standing in a frigid line just last week for Halo 4. The line was considerably longer for Black Ops II than Halo 4, mostly because the demographic is a bit different for the game. We have kind of created a ritual for our midnight release habits. First we head over to GameStop and finalize receipts, then head over to In-N-Out burger for delicious burgers. I seriously feel bad for anyone who does not have an In-N-Out near them. This time we decided to also stop at Krispy Kreme because our arteries did not take a big enough beating and picked up a couple of donuts.

20121113-112116.jpg

Richards custard filled donut looked rather derpy if you ask me. All of this ended up taking way less time than we expected it to, and we had no intentions of standing in line any longer than we had to because of how cold it was. The GameStop we were at shares the same parking lot with the Target that I used to work for, which was also doing a midnight release, so we wandered over there to get out of the cold and see a couple of friends. When we got there at around 11, the line was a whole 4 people deep vs the 100+ people outside of GameStop. I think these people had the right idea. I did some Christmas shopping while there (my goal is to have everything done by the end of the month and put nothing on credit cards) and we finally headed back over to GameStop to stand in the obnoxiously long line.

By the time we returned the line had grown from the side of the building almost looping the entire building. We had to stand out back in the boonies and rosemary (seriously rosemary plants everywhere!) but luckily we were only in line for about 10 minutes as the line moved really quickly. I am always saddened by how much trash people leave when hanging out for midnight releases or Black Friday – is it really too hard to pick up your garbage and throw it away 2 feet from you? It is not fair to either the employees that have to pick it up, the customers that have to navigate around it, and the other businesses in the shopping center that now have a bunch of garbage in front of their doors come 10 am. We were in and out in within minutes and back home to check out the game. Unfortunately I completely passed out before I even got to see a minute of the game play, woops.

So far I have only played the Zombie mode and its okay. I find the lack of readily available guns in some levels to be exceptionally frustrating as well as the introduction of fire. There are cracks in the ground in some levels and while I understand that if visible flames are coming from the cracks then yes, I will catch fire if I do not jump over them, but I should not catch fire if I am simply stepping over one of the cracks that does not have visible flames. Are you trying to tell me that I can not step over a crack in the ground? Stupid. As for Halo 4, we beat the campaign in 1 day and sadly have to replay through it on my Xbox so that I can get the achievements as well. Oh well.

1. Decided to rock some plain black polish for the first time in a while. My pentacle ring is from The Bead Man and my aquamarine ring was given to me for my 16th birthday.

2. Starbucks sucks at spelling my name, and so does at least half of the population so I have found.

3. Panda Restaurant feast on election night.

4. Lunch at Cafe Olivette. Their special was pepperoni mushroom lasagna, with a choice of soup or salad. I didn’t feel like having either of those so I opted for french fries.

5. Midnight loves to drink water from the tap. So cute.

6. My drive home is 37 miles – which for the most part really sucks. But there are days where I get to view amazing sunsets like this one and it’s not so bad. I actually stopped in the middle of the road to take this picture (I was on a back road, no worries).

7. Gushers for breakfast y’all!

8. Me pretending to be some sort of model at work. I was rather pleased with my hair and outfit for the day. My top is from Torrid.

9. Added some polka dots to my nails for a little fun.

10. Watching videos on YouTube with the captions turned on can be quite hilarious, demonstrated by the video of Marvo from The Impulsive Buy.

11. Yet another amazing sunset on my drive home.

12. I finally found the Pumpkin Pie Spice Pringles after searching forever! See what I thought of them here.

13. TOEJAM AND EARL ON XBOX LIVE. YESSSSSSSSS!

14. My awesome Holiday Pie from McDonald’s.
