It is no secret that I am some what of a nerd. I have written about all kinds of nerdy fandoms here and on other blogs that would further cement this fact. Instead of my normal rambling on about what game I am currently obsessed with, I thought I would put together a handy list of geekery that I am either watching, playing, working on, etc.

– I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a little late to the League of Legends hype. I recently started playing (within the last two months) and I am really enjoying it. Currently I am learning to master a few champions – Ashe, Sivir, Morgana, and Katarina. So far I really detest playing anything that does not have any sort of ranged attack. You can find me on League as pyropixieshesaid. I can’t wait to hit level 20 so that I can unlock tier 3 runes.

– If you haven’t heard of Hero Siege, please open your Steam client and download it right now (it’s only 5.99!). This pixellated hack and slash is crazy addicting and a really fun multiplayer. It is still being developed so there are days where the game is just insanely glitchy, but for the most part its a great way to burn some of your free time. I am currently rocking a level 82 Pyromancer and have only been playing for 3 days. You can find me on Steam as pyropixie.

– There are a couple of apps that I am currently obsessed with on my phone. The first being Disney Gif. This operates similar to the emjoi keyboard in that you download the app and then install it as a keyboard. It allows you to send pre-made Disney Gifs in text messages to your friends. The second app that I am really loving is called LegendSmith. It allows you to view top builds for League of Legend characters as well as create builds to see how they would stack up in game. It’s come in pretty handy and I find it interesting to see what items people build on various characters that I play.

– I recently started using my Razer Naga that I received for my birthday back in March and I am really loving it. Having the programmable hot keys on the side of the mouse really comes in handy in League (gosh can I talk about League a little more?) and the size is not overwhelming for my small hands. I have the neon green version (and the neon green Razer headphones to match).

– Lastly how cute is this Animal Crossing Stationary!? Too bad I would never want to use it because its so adorable!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July – I’m off to set $200 on fire set off some fireworks!

The Bookshelf

In an effort to keep my reading list in check to obtain my goal of reading 30 books this year, I present to you my dear readers what I am paging through currently.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling – I have adored Mindy for quite some time and I honestly can’t figure out why it took so long for me to pick up this book. So far I am a few chapters in and it is quite hilarious. Her struggles with weight are the same struggles I have faced through out my life, and I love the tone of her writing, as I feel like she is talking instead of trying too hard to write a book. It doesn’t hurt that in my head, I hear her voice while reading.

The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland’s Haunted Kingdom by Aubry Graves – This was a quick read for me, as I read it waiting for my plane to board from LAX to Sacramento when leaving Disneyland two weeks ago. It is similar to another book I read, The Park After Dark: An Unauthorized Guide to the Happiest (Haunted) Place on Earth by Richard Carradine. It delves into the paranormal at the park as well as some of the deaths that have occurred at the park. Both of these books are a must read for the Disney diehard.

Turn Around Bright Eyes: The Rituals of Love and Karaoke by Rob Sheffield – I have read Rob’s other books all of which I have immediately fallen in love with. I don’t know if it’s his writing style or musical references that pull on my heart strings, but I am so glad I took a chance on Talking to Girls About Duran Duran: One Young Man’s Quest for True Love and a Cooler Haircut in the clearance section at Urban Outfitters.

What are you reading?

My Week In Geek – Vol. 1

  • I purchased my first copy of a Grand Theft Auto game. Now let’s not confuse this and jump to the conclusion that I have never played a Grand Theft Auto game, because that is not the case, but after watching Richard drive around Los Santos, I really wanted to play it for myself. I am about 10 hours in and so far really enjoying it – though I have come to the conclusion that I really suck at driving.
  • I also started playing Lego Hobbit from the beginning. This is some what of a daunting task, but at least this time around I will get trophies on my gamer tag.
  • I started playing my character again in Torchlight on my 360 in attempt to pacify my love of dungeon crawl games now that I am not playing Diablo III anymore until there is an update. About a week and half or so ago after entering into the second act with Richard, his game froze corrupting all of his game data, causing his character to become obsolete. Not wanting my monk to suffer the same fate, I have put off playing until Blizzard puts out an update (as I have read that this has happened to other people online) Back to Torchlight. Torchlight and I broke up a while back (see here) but we are talking things out and have been going on a few outings. The only reason why I am playing really is to get the last achievement I am missing for the game which is achieving maximum fame in the game. I was SO close on my last character that it is almost heartbreaking to have to start all over again.
  • If you are into Disney Infinity and you have reserved the new figures coming out, just a heads up that on Monday, GameStop announced a GameStop exclusive Limited Edition Jack Skellington piece that comes with a graveyard case. The upgrade is only a few more dollars and I was able to switch it over in a few seconds. I also have all of the other upcoming pieces reserved as well as the series 2 power discs. Where am I going to put all this stuff?!
  • A couple friends and I have started a Disney social club that we are really excited about – once we get a few more details hammered out I will post about it over here, but lets just say, I am pretty stoked on our jacket back patches right now and our upcoming visit to Disney in January.
  • While I understand the features of the new Steam controller that was announced, that thing is all kinds of horrible looking. Same can be said for the Nintendo 2DS, which if I didn’t know better, I would have thought was some cruel super late April Fools joke from Nintendo.
  • And last but not least, I am currently lusting over this Game Boy luggage over on Think Geek right now. If I didn’t think it would make me a prime target to have my luggage stolen, I might consider the 70 dollar price tag. Do. Want.
